There’s talk of this. This year. Must get my B License.

When you see her, suddenly it’s not the earth holding you here anymore. She does. And nothing matters more than her. And you would do anything for her, be anything for her. You become whatever she needs you to be, whether that’s a protector, or a lover, or a friend, or a brother.
Spent the day sitting outside, down the DZ in the glorious sunshine. Could not believe the weather and how lucky that I wasn’t at work.
I had a slot on the 2nd lift and Ro, who was a camera-flyer at NLSC, but quit last year and has been living in Thailand but now home, offered to do a 2-way with me. This was only my 3rd jump since qualifying and I hadn’t jumped with anyone since my AFF Levels. Gary and Mike Ok’d it as she’s not an FS coach, but we went through the exit and what we would do. We were both nervous as she hadn’t jumped in 3 months. I was also nervous cos I was jumping a smaller canopy (210) for the first time, one step closer to jumping my own 160.
The jump was awesome! Great exit and we just took it in turns doing 90 turns and taking grips. I was a bit hesitant a couple of times. Tracked away and pulled at 4,000ft. Canopy checks were fine. Went to take the toggles to flare and the left came down no problem. But the right was stuck. I was shaking it and pulling at it and as I started to go into an involuntary right turn, “Here we go..” I thought aloud. But a few seconds later it had released and I was flying flat again! Phew! It was a Spectre 210 and it handled so well and so much more responsive than the Balance 230. I landed just short of the PLA, not too fussed. I was absolutely buzzing. Still kind of am.
I only opted for the one jump, though wish I’d taken more advantage of the weather now. Oh well!
Later in the day I walked out of the hanger to see what everyone was looking up and pointing for. Someone had cutaway and they were tracking the Main and bag down. Everyone landed safely but no one knew who it was. One of the FS coaches/tandem instructors grabbed the binoculars and walked away confirming it was his partner who chopped, also an FS coach. Conveniently he was up on the next lift as he declared that it was one of his pack jobs! Biiiig oops! Of course he was getting it in the neck that he would be cooking the tea, and in the dog house. But she was fine. Turns out one of her brake lines was jammed. Errr.. basically a more serious case of what I had earlier experienced.
After my first taste and seeing so much FS yesterday I am determined to get started. Also, I’ve decided I shall definitely be getting my FS Coach Cert one day.
Of course.. I didn’t tell the parents about my little fluster as they looked scared enough when I told them about the woman’s chop.. ;)
Taken today at North London Skydiving Centre. The guys did a tracking dive to celebrate Greg’s 200th jump.

Our first gig of 2012, and it’s in our favourite place, our hometown, Peterborough!
Amazing line up, and the week before we head out on tour with Palm Reader, so a good excuse to get a bit saucy.
Come along, bring friends and have a fucking good time.
:)
